Chef Instructor named National Chef of the Year

Chef Hans Anderegg, a chef instructor at Holland College’s Culinary Institute of Canada, was named Canadian Chef of the Year by the National Conference of the Canadian Culinary Federation at the federation’s annual conference in Kelowna, B.C. recently.

The award comes on the heels of the title of Atlantic Chef of the Year, which Chef Hans garnered a couple of months ago. It is the first time that a chef from P.E.I. has been the recipient of both awards, according to Chef Allan Williams, Branch President of the PEI Association of Chef and Cooks.

“We are very pleased that Chef Hans has been given this prestigious award, which is based not only on a chef’s culinary abilities, but on the body of their work over their entire career. Chef Hans is a well-respected, talented chef, and an exceptional educator,” Williams said.

Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵPresident Dr. Brian McMillan said the entire college community was thrilled to hear about Hans’s award.

“Chef Hans is a wonderful example of the professionalism and commitment of the college’s staff, and we are very proud of his accomplishments. For many years, he has devoted a great deal of time and energy into ensuring that his students are well prepared for the culinary industry, it’s gratifying to see his dedication rewarded by his peers,” he said.
