High School students Experience HC first-hand

Its been a busy spring season for the Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵrecruitment team, which has been working to provide even more opportunities for Island high school students to explore post-secondary options. Since mid-March, hundreds of Island high school students have visited Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵcampuses and centres for an immersive exploration of college programs and facilities. Students met instructors from a variety of programs and were given general tours of Holland College. Its expected that approximately 500 students will visit through the duration of the #ExperienceHC campaign.

Students from Charlottetown Rural tour the carpentry cottage build underway at the Summerside Waterfront Campus.

The tours are designed to help students familiarize themselves with the opportunities available in PEI and to see Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵlocations first-hand. High school administrators have been invited to select the campus location that best meets their students’ interests.

Its all about building relationships with our Island students”, says Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵVice President Doug Currie. “We want to give them the tools they need to build the career they want locally, and if they have questions about a program, we want them to know they can turn to us”.

In addition to these campus visits, the Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵrecruitment team is in constant communication with local high schools, making frequent visits to provide presentations to Career Explorations classes.

We want to ensure that students have the information they need to make important decisions about their future”, says Michael Dimitroff, Manager of Recruitment and First-Year Advising at Holland College. “If they need to make adjustments to their course schedules to meet the academic requirements for a program, we want them to know that from the get-go”

The #HCExperience tours will continue through June, however, personalized campus tours are available year-round to anyone looking to explore Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵprograms or facilities.

“The best way to learn about our programs is to see them for yourself”, says Michael. “Come to campus, chat with our staff and instructors, and see what hands-on learning really looks like”.

Tours can be booked directly through our Recruitment Team by completing our Campus Tour Request Form
