Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵstudents will be back on campuses and in centres across the Island full time in September, Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵpresident Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald announced today, noting that there will be extensive COVID-19 protocols in place.
The college will continue to utilize public health measures such as physical distancing, mandatory mask use, social hygiene, and enhanced cleaning guidelines to support the health and safety of staff and students. Other protocols which are currently in place will continue, including the mandatory use of non-medical masks in indoor spaces and building access restrictions.
Students will be divided into cohorts of up to 50 people including faculty, however most class sizes are significantly smaller. Interactions between cohorts will be minimized through scheduling and dedicated space assignments, where possible. In addition to face-to-face delivery, some programs will offer opportunities for blended or technology-enhanced learning in some courses.
The plans, which have been developed in consultation with the Chief Public Health Office of »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵ, are based on provincial and national best practices.
“This plan is centered on the health and safety of our students, staff, and individuals who have been approved to be on site,” Dr. MacDonald said. “I am confident that we will be able to provide our students with the best possible experience when they return to our campuses and centres in September.”
The plan will be monitored and adjusted in consultation with the Chief Public Health Office if necessary.
