Music Performance students prepare for showcase

Students in the School of Performing Arts’ Music Performance program are preparing for their annual fall showcase, to be held Thursday, December 12 at 7 p.m. in the Florence Simmons Performance Hall.

From the time they arrive in September, the students work in ensembles to learn a variety of genres, including country, Celtic, rock, R&B, jazz, world music, and pop. The showcases, which happen in the fall and spring, give them the opportunity to perform their favourite pieces in front of an audience. Program manager Liam Corcoran said members of the audience frequently comment on the high quality of the students’ performances.

"The showcases have become very popular with local music lovers. In addition to our talented local students, we have students from all over the world. The regulars in the audience enjoy seeing how last year's first year students are progressing and listening to our talented new students as they hit the Florence Simmons Performance Hall stage for the first time." ~ Liam Corcoran, program manager

The two-year Music Performance program is one of the four programs that form the School of Performing Arts, a partnership between Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵand Confederation Centre of the Arts, The Music Performance program uses official curriculum materials from Berklee »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵof Music in Boston for all core music courses and is a Berklee Global Partner.
