Students look at things differently in new exhibition

This year’s graduates of Holland College’s Graphic Design, Fundamental Arts, Photography and Digital Imaging, and Video Game Art and Animation programs will be displaying their work at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery from April 19 to May 4 in the 2014 Student Showcase.

April Condon, an instructor in the Graphic Design program, said the exhibition, entitled Focus, demonstrates how the 40 participating students have changed their perspectives over their time at the college.

“The tagline for the exhibition is quote from psychologist Wayne Dyer: ‘If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change’, which really highlights the artistic growth of these students over the course of their studies,” she said.

This is the sixth time that the Confederation Centre Art Gallery has hosted the exhibition, and it’s an annual event that students, instructors and the art community look forward to.

“It is very exciting for anyone to see their work on display at a national art gallery. For these artists, on the thresholds of their careers, the experience is just that much more thrilling,” Condon said.

Family, friends and the public are welcome to attend the opening reception on April 24 at 4 p.m. to view the artwork and meet staff and students from the program.
