foundation unveils donor wall

The Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵFoundation recently celebrated the unveiling of its first ever donor wall, located in the Centre for Community Engagement at Holland College’s Prince of Wales Campus.  The Centre for Community Engagement is a hub of activity at Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵwhere students, staff, and the community come together for wellness, special events, and functions.

Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵFoundation Board of Directors Chair, Quentin Bevan, cut a ribbon to mark the official unveiling with Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵPresident Dr. Brian McMillan.

“Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵdonors make extraordinary things happen,” said Bevan.  “They give hope, one student at a time.  They transform our campuses, and they help our community build a strong workforce.  Their contribution to our Island and national economy is significant.”

Donors whose cumulative giving since May 15, 2007 reached the Friend level of recognition at $10,000 through to the Visionary level of $1 million or more are listed on the wall.  An LCD panel incorporated into the design will eventually recognize donors at all levels.

“More than $10 million has been raised for Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵthrough the Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵFoundation since May of 2007,” said Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵPresident Dr. Brian McMillan.  ”Priorities such as student financial aid and support services, extracurricular activities, classroom equipment, research, and renewal and expansion of facilities have received substantial enhancements thanks to the leadership and support of many in the community.”

AJ MacIntyre, President of the Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵStudent Union, said that the generosity of the donor community has tremendous impact for students.

“The entire student body thanks the many generous supporters in the community for being an important part of the Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵfamily,” said MacIntyre.  “It is so encouraging to know that others invest in our education because they believe in our potential.”

The Foundation invites all donors to drop by and view the new wall located just inside the main doors of the Centre for Community Engagement.
