The five glass display cases in the main concourse of the Confederation Centre of the Arts will soon be filled with the works of Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵstudents. The exhibition, entitled Elbow Room, displays the creations of students in some of the college's Media and Communications programs.
Coordinated by the Art Gallery's curator, Mireille Eagan, and Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵfaculty, the second annual exhibition highlights the excellent work produced by students in the Fundamental Arts, Graphic Design, Interactive Multimedia, Video Game Art and Design, and Photography and Digital Imaging programs.
Approximately sixty students will present their work.
"This is an opportunity for the Gallery to support and celebrate the creative endeavors of Holland College's students, and the high quality of work found within the program. It is a real pleasure to have the showcase back for a second year," Eagan says.
Graphic Design instructor Nigel Roe says the exhibition gives students an opportunity to showcase their talents to a broader audience.
"Some of the students have never exhibited their work before, so the opportunity to do so in a gallery as prestigious as Confederation Centre is really exciting. The college is very appreciative of the time and effort that gallery staff put into helping us prepare for the exhibition," he noted.
The Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵStudent Exhibition opens April 1 and runs until May 16. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 9, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the concourse with opening remarks and refreshments. The public is welcome to attend.
