Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵhas signed a letter of intent with International Maritime Security Network, a U.S. based security company dedicated to combating maritime terrorism. Through this relationship, the college's Marine Training Centre, Atlantic Police Academy, and Justice Knowledge Network will work with IMSN to deliver new and existing training opportunities to the international maritime industry.
IMSN is a full service security company that delivers International Maritime Organization certified training, consulting, and hard security services to clients around the globe. While joint initiatives at the Marine Training Centre and the Atlantic Police Academy will focus on practical, hands-on exercises, IMSN will work with the Justice Knowledge Network to develop new online training opportunities for the maritime security market.
“The demand for maritime security and counter-terrorism training is on the rise globally,” says Capt. Larry Wilkinson, CEO of IMSN. “The opportunity to partner with Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵfor both on-site and online training gives the industry as a whole a significant jump-start on what will be a core component of training for years to come.”
Over the past 30 years, Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵhas earned an international reputation for exceptional instruction and excellent facilities for maritime, security, and law enforcement training.
“The college has a solid standing in the maritime sector, but it’s essential that we continue to evolve and adapt with the industry,” says Michael O’Grady, Vice President of Innovation, Enterprise and Strategic Development. “Given IMSN’s knowledge and expertise in maritime security, they are an ideal partner to explore and implement new initiatives that meet the needs of the industry.”
Though still in the preliminary planning stage, this new partnership will explore opportunities for the delivery of accredited on-site and online training in the areas of Ship Security Officer/Company Security Officer, Port Facility Security Officer, Anti-Piracy, and Military Security Law Enforcement Police. Programming is expected to be implemented later this year.
