Toronto security company recruiting at Justice Institute

by Alissa Blanchard

Representatives from Intelligarde, a Toronto-based security and protective services company, recently visited Holland College's Justice Institute of Canada recruiting soon-to-be graduates and promoting their company as an on-the-job-training site.

Intelligarde needs people with specific skills, and recognizes the high-quality training and skill sets of JIOC graduates, offering them a bonus above standard entry level pay. Intelligarde is so anxious to recruit JIOC students for on-the-job-training they will cover certain living and travel expenses. Intelligarde is also willing to cover transportation back to Ontario and provides accommodations at low rent for up to a year for students they hire.

On-the-job-training with Intelligarde offers exposure to high-profile security positions in both Ottawa and Toronto including opportunities in housing, transportation, harbour fronts, parking, and trespassing enforcement.

Dave Carty, JIOC program manager, is positive about this new partnership. "I'm quite pleased with it because of the exposure it gives our graduates in the Private Policing and Security program." Intelligarde hired several graduates from last year's Private Policing and Security program and as a result came to recruit directly at the Justice Institute this year.

Over 40 per cent of the officers employed by Intelligarde go on to police careers thanks to the combination of experience and training they receive at Intelligarde. The benefit of going to a major centre like Ottawa or Toronto is the exposure to the kinds of potential conflicts they'll encounter on the job.
