Women’s basketball player Lauren Armstrong and men’s basketball player Bryce Corless have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 17, 2024.
Armstrong, a third-year guard from Canberra, Australia, earned female honours for the second consecutive week as she led her team for the second and third straight time to victories this past weekend in New Brunswick. On Friday, Holland defeated Crandall 83-56, and, on Sunday, Holland defeated Mount Allison 65-58. Armstrong recorded a total of 34 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals, and five blocks whilst continuously being a force to be reckoned with on the court.
She and the Hurricanes are now 4-1 and in a three-way tie for third in the conference. Catch her and the squad back in action with yet another road trip next weekend, which will be to Halifax, N.S. to take on the MSVU Mystics on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24.

Corless, a fifth-year guard from Quispamsis, N.B., had his best weekend yet after a roller coaster of a start to his season, leading his team to a perfect weekend in New Brunswick. On Friday, Holland barely edged Crandall 79-71, and, on Sunday, Holland exited Mount Allison with a 83-69 win. Corless led the squad in both games, recording a total of 39 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three three-pointers.
He and the Hurricanes are now 3-2 and in a four-way tie for second in the conference. Catch him and the team back in ACAA competition on the road next weekend as they will head to Halifax, N.S. to take on the MSVU Mystics on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24.
